Analysing Interactive websites:

Jurassic World Promotional Website:
Leading up to the first films release a website was made which appeared like the attractions website was set up similar to how a typical zoo's website would look. The website has lot's of interactive features as well as even having a button which takes you to a menu that is available at the park, they also promote the film narrative. On the website there's an advertisement for a new dinosaur  where you can click to learn more brings you to a page about it. However the websites layout was quite cluttered which made it hard to absorb the information given. Also I'm not sure if it was because i used the website Way Back Machine to get it but the some of the pages just had blank spaces like what can be seen in to top left this made the website feel incomplete.

However before the release of the second film in 2018 the website changed to fit around the narrative of this film. The website has been made to look as if it's been taken over by the DPG which plays a big role in this film the facts in green change every few seconds making the website more pleasing to look at. Furthermore there are many possible links which lead to the DPG's website which includes videos and multiple pictures.

Arngren a Selling page:
This websites appearance instantly seems overwhelming and confusing with so many adverts in an unstructured format.  The whole site appears thrown together each advert is a different size making it impossible to read I feel as if I would miss an advert each time I looked. The only positive thing I can see on this website structure is that there is an index along the side which helps to add some order.

Because the website is in another language I assumed that by clicking a picture it would take me to that product instead it took me another page with lots of other products. Although this is slightly more organised there's now a lot of blank space which makes the site feel unfinished. Also one picture is overlapping with another making that column look unorganised. I felt as though I would never actually get to a page where I'm able to buy any of the items.

Research on my clients company:

My client is Claire Schofield who owns Noses to Toeses which is a dog grooming business. Currently she does not have a website and does most of her business from Facebook and I googled the business and was met with other businesses with the same name. Which highlights to me the importance of online presence for Claire's business hopefully with a website she will be able to bring in more clients. From my first meeting I was able to get information such as address, contact information and the services she provides. Also I was able to get the qualifications that Claire has which is a platinum UK grooming school and a pet first aid qualification. This is information I got from Claire and from her FaceBook page.

Analysing similar company's websites:

Debs Dogs:

The home page to this website is very jumble for me there is too much going on I'm not sure where to look fist. This isn't a good first impression for a website because it makes the page appear confusing and over whelming. Also the lay out is very plain with just a cream coloured also there's no alignment with the columns. For example the photo of the dog should end at the same point as the text next to it to give a neater appearance.
However on the about tabs there was actually no essential information this page was had long and unnecessary information it didn't seem very important to a potential costumer which made me bored reading it. This has helped me realise with a website it's important to keep the information short and to the point.

This page called prices is very confusing I feel as though it be easier to show how the prices range rather than trying to list all the breeds. This helped to show me how I wouldn't show my price lists because this format is just confusing. I thought the gallery page was a good idea and with Claire's permission I think it would be good to use some of her before and after photos.

Handsome hounds and pretty pooches:

The colour of font and background is really bad I can barely read the text and when I concentrate it's straining. This is really bad for costumers because if they're trying to find a local groomer they will probably click straight off this website because they can't read the information.

I really liked that they used a photo of the owners cuddling a dog it made the business immediately feel caring and friendly which is exactly what people look for in someone they trust their pet with. I'm going to consider including a photo similar to this on my website I really think it adds something to the character of the business. Also the use of blank space on this design doesn't work well it just feel as if the screen is too big for the website.

Survey:
To continue my research I've created a survey to help find out other peoples opinion on what makes a good website.

Question 1:

How old are you?
72.22% of people who answered are under 18 which means with the rest of my question I have to keep in mind that the majority of people answering are a younger demographic.

Question 2:

When searching for a new service for example a hair dresser do you typically?
38.89% said google it.
33.33% said look on social media.
27.78% said ask a friend.
To me this highlights how important all means of promotion are, Claire already has a good social media representation and many of her clients recommend her. However this shows how much her business needs a website because over a third of people say that they google search to find new services.

Question 3:

The majority of people said that how a business is presented online changes their opinion of it. I think this comes from if a website looks professional it feel credible whereas a bad website looks as though it could be a scam in my opinion.

Question 4:

A vast majority of people said that they prefer an equal amount of information and photos on a website. Which was how I found my research into other websites when there was too much information I found that I was getting bored reading whereas when there was only images i found that it was really hard to understand exactly what services they provide.

Question 5:

My results were fairly hard to read because a lot of the results got the same percentage. However information about the service provided was rated most important by the majority and about the business and reviews were voted the least important. Although I plan on using all these features this answer has helped me to know where to concentrate on when designing my website.

Question 6:

The last two question were to understand my potential viewers 70% said they owned dogs whereas only 38% take their dog to be groomed. Which means that it could be important to include information on why your dogs need to be groomed.
